In the first part of his talk Sangharakshita recounts the remarkable beginnings of the FWBO and WBO and key Buddhist scriptures which offered inspiration and guidance. He goes on to consider what it means to be a Buddhist in the Western world, explains the meaning of Trailokya and how the form of ordination evolved in the Western Buddhist Order.
He then reports on three recent developments in the FWBO: new facilities for women, ordinations conducted by senior Order Members, and a new Buddhist magazine.
